Environment

The scientific definition of the environment would include the complex of physical, chemical, and biological factors in which a living organism or community exists.

Talking meaningfully about the environment is complicated by its use as a term in the general domain to describe the effects of human actions on the natural world.

This can include any physical conditions that will be affected by a proposed action, including land, air, water, minerals, flora, fauna, noise, even archaeological, historic or aesthetic conditions.

A key part of environmental work is measuring changes in natural conditions. Scientists use a variety of instruments to keep track of changes in natural conditions, including:

  • Anemometer - To measure wind speed.
  • Barograph - To keep a record of atmospheric pressure, traditionally on a paper drum
  • Barometer - to measure atmospheric pressure
  • Hygrometer - to measure humidity

Tracking down equipment such as this can be time consuming, so to make things easier for you we have collected together a comprehensive list of suppliers for all your needs.
