Pharma

An abbreviation of pharmaceutical, pharma is concerned with the production and distribution of medicines.

The pharma industry is one of the world's biggest, with global revenues of over $ 534.8 Billion in 2005.

This is also a field with continued growth - this continued growth in pharma is largely attributed to changes in the disease profile of the global population. This has led to an increasing incidence of lifestyle related diseases, and a concomitant increase in demand for drugs for these particular diseases.

As you might expect, the USA is the world's biggest market, accounting for almost 50% of worldwide sales, with Europe and Asia-Pacific also providing strong markets.

However, it is expected that the Asian-Pacific and Latin American markets will continue to grow rapidly.

The other side of the coin is the huge black market in drugs made by unlicensed suppliers. While some of these are simply unlicensed copies, many are placebos at best, dangerous or even deadly in the worst case scenario.

Keeping up with this business requires companies to be savvy in their practices - this includes sourcing quality supplies and equipment. To help you remain competitive, we have brought together a comprehensive list of suppliers, offering everything from coating services to vacuums.
